Dr. Eric Grafstein completed medical school at the University of Toronto in 1985 and completed his Royal College training in Emergency Medicine at McGill in 1991. He has been practicing at St. Paul’s Hospital as an emergency physician since 1993.
He is the Regional Head of Emergency Medicine at Vancouver Coastal Health and Providence Health Care, and the Chair of the Vancouver Coastal Health Regional Emergency Services Program. He spent his formative years in the Emergency Department (ED) as the Associate Research Director at St. Paul’s Hospital, where he led the development of an Emergency Administrative Database for Health Services Research. Furthermore, he has spearheaded several IT projects, both in Vancouver Coastal Health and at St. Paul’s Hospital, including an electronic discharge summary application and a real-time electronic ED dashboard.
